“The Third Way” –an introduction to the philosophy and practice of active non-violence.

Tuesday 26th April.
This seminar is aimed at anyone wanting to look at more peaceful ways of resolving conflict – whether it be at home or at work, in personal relationships or community or organizational settings.

garryhills:

Garry Hills is Secretary of Peace Partners, Incorporated (Southern Queensland) and has had extensive experience facilitating non-violence workshops for a wide range of groups including academics, high school students, child support workers and mixed audiences. Garry has been actively involved in a wide range of peace and justice issues including lobbying, demonstrating, publishing, organising and advocating.

This workshop asks the question: “must we accept that a violent world is inevitable and a peaceful one impossible?” and explores ways to break cycles of violence.
When confronted by violence, our instinctive reaction is normally fight or flight. But is there a ‘third way’? You’ve heard of ‘escalating violence’. Can there be ‘escalating peace’?
Are there ways to break cycles of violence without breaking people’s necks - other’s and our own?
